19 students from the Lycée Abdel Kader follow the training sessions that take place at LAU in Beirut on some Saturday afternoons… 10 are from the Middle School (4ème), 9 from the High School (Seconde).

The LAU Model United Nations (MUN) as it is called is an international training session organised in many countries where students act as if they represented some countries and they do as their representatives and ambassadors would do at the UN. The program aims at sensibilizing them on the world’s global issues.

In groups and workshops  mixed with different students from other schools, they deal with global issues that are discussed about at the UN for real, such as the environment, access to education, children’s rights… They communicate in English in their groups.

The objective is to attend a conference in February or March (according to their level) and submit a paper that will be graded on the issues that they will have worked on. They will also have to present a topic orally.
